Childhood Wonders: Collaborative Eco-Sculptures for the Kindergarten

Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan, Israel
2025
Overview
A heartwarming collaborative project at Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan, where young children and their parents co-created a series of whimsical eco-sculptures to enrich the kindergarten’s outdoor play landscape
Process
In the heart of the historic Kibbutz Ramat Yohanan, this playful outdoor installation introduces a series of friendly animal sculptures into the local kindergarten yard. Born out of deep brainstorming with the preschool’s leadership, the collection includes a colorful snail, a sleek dragonfly, and a charming hedgehog. The artwork serves a dual purpose: fulfilling an artistic dream to sculpt local wildlife while beautifully recreating the nostalgic childhood memories of the community’s educators.
Outcomes
The implementation of the sculptures was structured as an inclusive, intergenerational community festival. Moving beyond static construction, kindergarten children worked side by side with their parents to actively build the heavy structural bases of the animals. This hands-on collaboration fostered a wonderful atmosphere of family bonding and civic pride. Once the community-led groundwork was complete, the final, intricate details, textures, and durable weatherproofing finishes were meticulously hand-refined to ensure a safe, lasting finish.
